During the late 1980s, while living in Metro Detroit, Denver Nelson’s passion for installing and displaying Christmas decorations began just as a weekend hobby. His hobby of Christmas light installation began to grow through the mid 1990s, eventually involving thousands of lights and towering commercial displays usually only seen in city parks and hotel displays.
After relocating to Central Florida in 1998, Denver Nelson opened a 7,000 square foot Christmas store, Nelson’s Holiday Enchantment. Nelson’s Christmas store featured animated window displays, decorated trees, life-sized Christmas figures, oversized commercial decorations, lights, ornaments, and collectibles. Almost instantly store customers began making requests for decorations to be installed at their homes and at their neighborhood’s entrances. Homeowners associations and shopping malls also made requests for decor. Denver Nelson then decided to branch off the decorating portion of his store business into a standalone decorating company.
